# Activate your card and know what locks

Activate your card so you can issue more than 10 cards. Some settings lock when you activate, so check them first.

Your card is active, so you can issue more than 10 cards, and you know which settings you can no longer change.

**Who can do this:** Your plan sets how many cards can be active at once.

## Before you start

- A card you've created under 'Cards'
- Room on your plan for another active card. If there isn't, you'll see 'Active card limit reached'.

## Steps

### Step 1

Finish the card in the builder first. Click **Continue** after **Settings** and **Design**, then **Finish** on the **Information** step.

In the app: 'Settings' → 'Continue' → 'Design' → 'Continue' → 'Information' → 'Finish'

> 'Finish' saves the card, but it doesn't activate it. To save part-way, use 'Save and preview' above the steps.

### Step 2

Check the settings that lock. After activation, you can't edit:

- **Card type**
- **Card expiration date**
- **Stamp life** or **Lifetime points**
- the rows of the **Card issuing form**
- the welcome amount, such as **Number of stamps when issuing a card**
- **Earned stamp message** and **Earned reward message**
- **Multi rewards**
- on a Coupon, also **Linked card template** and **Reward for the first visit**

**Design** and most **Information** fields stay editable.

In the app: 'Card type' → 'Card expiration date' → 'Stamp life' / 'Lifetime points' → 'Card issuing form' → 'Number of stamps when issuing a card' → 'Earned stamp message' → 'Earned reward message' → 'Multi rewards' → 'Linked card template' → 'Reward for the first visit'

> We haven't confirmed yet whether 'Stamps count' in Design can change after activation. To be safe, set it before you activate.

### Step 3

In **Cards**, click **Open** on the card. **Activate** sits under the card preview on the **Information** tab. You'll also find it in the builder.

In the app: 'Cards' → 'Open' → 'Information'

### Step 4

Click **Activate**. A dialog warns 'After activation, you can't edit some card settings' and names **Card type**, **Loyalty program terms**, **Card expiration date** and **Issuing form details**.

In the app: 'Activate'

> This wording comes from the app's text. We haven't checked the dialog on screen yet, so it may look slightly different.

### Step 5

Read the list. If everything is right, confirm in the dialog. If something still needs changing, don't confirm; fix it first.

In the app: 'After activation, you can't edit some card settings'

> An AI agent must ask you before confirming.

## What you should see

The app shows 'Card activated' with the message 'Your card has been successfully activated and is ready for distribution.' You can now issue more than 10 cards. Next, share your card's link and QR code with customers.

## If something goes wrong

### Active card limit reached

**Likely cause:** Your plan's limit on active cards is used up.

Check **Compare plans** under **Settings** → **Plan** (admin accounts only) to see which plan allows more active cards. Or contact our support team at any time and we'll help you find the right option.

### You cannot issue more than 10 cards before the card template is activated

**Likely cause:** The card isn't active yet. Before activation you can issue only 10 cards, for testing. An inactive card can still have installed customers and transactions.

Check the settings that lock (step 2), then click **Activate** and confirm.

### You clicked 'Finish' but the card isn't active

**Likely cause:** 'Finish' only saves the card. Activation is a separate step.

Open the card from **Cards** and click **Activate** (steps 3 to 5).

### You need to change a setting that locked

**Likely cause:** Activation locks the card type, expiry, stamp or point life, the issuing form, the welcome amount, the stamp and reward messages and Multi rewards.

**Design** and most **Information** fields stay editable. For a locked setting, create a new card with the settings you need, or contact our support team and we'll help you plan the change.

## Need a person?

When to activate is your decision, because the locked settings can't be edited afterwards. An AI agent must ask you before clicking 'Activate' and before confirming the dialog. If you see 'Active card limit reached', choosing a plan is also up to you. If you're unsure about anything, contact our support team at any time and we'll help.
